Cool air feels great until it comes with a cough, itchy eyes, or endless sneezing.

What if the thing keeping you comfortable…is also making you uncomfortable?

From hidden mold to dirty filters, a neglected AC system could be circulating more than just cold air.

🛠️ The fix? It’s simpler than you think.

1. Poor Air Quality = Poor Health

If your AC system’s filters are dirty or the unit isn’t regularly cleaned, dust, mold, bacteria, and other pollutants can circulate through your home. Breathing in these particles can lead to:

  • Allergies

  • Respiratory issues

  • Headaches

  • Fatigue

  • Skin and eye irritation

Delta T Tip: Change your air filters every 1–3 months and schedule regular maintenance to keep the air clean and healthy.

2. Excessive Dryness

Air conditioners remove humidity from the air. That’s great in muggy weather but too much dryness can cause:

  • Dry throat or cough

  • Itchy eyes

  • Dehydration

  • Dry skin

Delta T Tip: Consider using a humidifier in overly dry environments or talk to us about humidity control options integrated into your HVAC system.

3. Sudden Temperature Changes

Jumping between hot outdoor air and a freezing indoor space can shock your system and potentially weaken your body’s defenses, making you more susceptible to colds or infections.

Delta T Tip: Keep your thermostat at a comfortable, moderate setting (around 22–24.5°C) and avoid extreme temperature swings when possible.

4. Mold & Mildew Risks

A poorly maintained AC system can create the perfect breeding ground for mold and mildew, especially in humid climates. Spores from these fungi can trigger serious respiratory problems for those with asthma or sensitivities.

Delta T Tip: Regular maintenance includes checking your system for any moisture build-up, drain line clogs, or mold growth we do all of that and more during our inspections.

So, What’s the Verdict?

Air conditioning doesn’t make you sick but a neglected system can contribute to a range of issues that impact your health. The good news? With proper maintenance, AC can actually improve indoor air quality, comfort, and overall well-being.
